Diagnostic Assessment -

I meet with a child's parents to learn their understanding of their child, including their unique strengths and difficulties.  I will review any formal developmental or psychological testing if any, and make plans with the parents to meet with their child.  After two or three meetings with a child, I give feedback and recommendations.  If a written assessment is needed, I am happy to provide one.

Psychotherapy -

Children communicate with their therapist the way they feel most comfortable, and based on their developmental ability to put thoughts or feelings into words.  For many children, especially younger children, they use play to express themselves as they work through difficulties.

Consultation to Schools and Day Care -

Children are often referred for a therapy assessment because of difficulties in their school or day care.  When appropriate, I can be available to provide consultation to a child's teachers so they may be able to better respond to the child.  Decisions to consult to a school or day care are made with parents' consent only, and the child's and family's confidentiality is fully honored.
